F.A.S.T. Lab
Speed Training Built Around What Your Athlete Needs
F.A.S.T. Lab is Carlisle Performance’s indoor speed-development program for improving acceleration, top-end speed, deceleration, and change of direction.
Every athlete starts with the Carlisle Athletic Profile (CAP). Your results identify the speed qualities that need attention and help us determine how F.A.S.T. Lab should fit into your Athlete Development Blueprint.
Coach Carlisle has been employed by:
Small-Group Training.
Individualized Coaching.
F.A.S.T. Lab maintains a coach-to-athlete ratio of 1:4, allowing coaches to address the priorities identified through each athlete’s CAP.
Athletes may train together while receiving different coaching emphasis based on their needs. One athlete may require greater attention to acceleration mechanics, while another may need top-speed development, deceleration control, or change-of-direction ability.
Why Train Speed in the Lab?
Objective Speed Measurement
Timing systems establish an objective baseline and allow us to measure whether the speed qualities we’re training are actually improving.
Resisted and Assisted Sprint Development
The Lab’s sprint technology — including 1080 Sprint systems — allows Carlisle Performance coaches to apply and control resistance or assistance during sprint training when appropriate.
Speed and Strength Under One Roof
Speed doesn’t develop in isolation. F.A.S.T. Lab connects sprint development with the strength, power, mobility, and force-production work taking place throughout the Athlete Development Lab.
A Controlled Training Environment
The indoor Lab provides a consistent surface and environment for technical sprint coaching, resisted sprint work, timing, testing, and integration with the strength-power floor.
Training Frequency Based on Need
Your Athlete Development Blueprint recommends training frequency based on CAP results, training age, sport schedule, and competitive demands. F.A.S.T. Lab can then be integrated at the frequency appropriate for the athlete.
F.A.S.T. Lab Starts with Understanding Your Athlete
Start With the CAP
Complete the CAP first. We’ll establish your athlete’s baseline, identify the speed qualities that need attention, and determine how F.A.S.T. Lab fits into the Athlete Development Blueprint.

Who Is F.A.S.T. Lab For?
F.A.S.T. Lab is for athletes who need focused development in one or more speed qualities identified through their CAP, including:
- Acceleration and first-step quickness
- Top-end speed
- Deceleration
- Change of direction
- Sprint mechanics
Because the recommendation comes from the assessment, athletes don’t have to determine which type of speed training they need. That’s our job.

Small groups allow our coaches to provide meaningful technical feedback and address individual development priorities.
Your Athlete Development Blueprint determines how frequently F.A.S.T. Lab is recommended, based on your assessment, training age, sport schedule, and competitive demands.
After reviewing your Blueprint, you’ll receive the appropriate training recommendation and registration pathway.
Know What Your Athlete Needs Before You Train It.
Start With the CAP
The CAP establishes the baseline. Your Athlete Development Blueprint identifies the priorities. F.A.S.T. Lab provides the environment and coaching to develop them.
Have Questions? We Have Answers
No. Both develop speed, but they serve different purposes.
Outdoor F.A.S.T. School is Carlisle Performance’s four-week field-based speed-development program at King’s Academy. Athletes can enroll directly; a CAP is not required.
F.A.S.T. Lab is our indoor, assessment-driven speed program at the Athlete Development Lab. Athletes begin with the CAP, and F.A.S.T. Lab may be prescribed as part of their Athlete Development Blueprint.
